The Woden Valley Youth Choir is delighted to be presenting The Canberra Times Carols by Candlelight, to be held on 9th December 2023 at Stage 88. This year, we are thrilled to announce that The Canberra Times will again be our major naming rights sponsor, with generous support from 2CA/2CC.  Of course, our event can't take place without the help of our amazing friends at Canberra City Band and Eclipse Lighting and Sound. The Canberra Times Carols by Candlelight is the major carols event in Canberra.

Cash supporters are vital for Carols by Candlelight, as without them, we simply cannot afford to cover the event costs. We welcome community donations to our event via our Go Fund Me page. This event simply cannot go ahead without sufficient funds to cover our costs.  Anyone who donates to our Go Fund Me will go in the draw for Lucky Door Prizes on the night!

We would also like to thank National Capital Authority, for hosting The Canberra Times Carols by Candlelight event in the beautiful National Triangle.  We really appreciate their support.  

This year, our charity of choice is again Lifeline Canberra.  The do amazing work in our local community. Please come along on the night and support them. 


What: The Canberra Times Carols by Candlelight

When: Saturday 9th December 2023, 6pm to 8:30pm. We advise that you arrive by 5-5:30pm in order to secure a place.  Tickets are not required and there will be no live-stream of this event.  

What to bring: A picnic, sunscreen and hats, cash to support our charity partner, picnic rugs or chairs, your family and friends, good humour and voices.  Please respect the "Chairs" or "Rugs" signs to ensure that everyone has good visibility. Please refrain from smoking or vaping near other attendees. 

What NOT to bring: Please DO NOT bring food-cookers (bbq's, gas burners or the like) for the safety of patrons.  Please also do not bring dogs or other pets, as they would probably not enjoy the noise. 

Will there be food?: Yes, a limited number of food vendors will be onsite, including gelato, italian, chip on a stick and fairy floss. We have had a few vendors pull out due to the weather. No alcohol will be served at this event.  You can BYO your own alcohol. 

Parking: Parking will be limited at the Regatta Point site. We do not recommend this area, unless you have access needs.  The recommended parking options will be near Mr Spokes, near the pool, or at the Canberra Theatre area, or Canberra Centre.  There is no shuttle services for this event.   

Songsheet and Candles:  Songsheets and candles are available for a small cost. The money raised from the songsheets will be used to support the running costs of the event with excess donated to Lifeline Canberra.  An digital version of the Songbook is available by scanning the QR code on this page. 

Donations: This year, our charity of choice is Lifeline Canberra. Collectors will be present onsite with visible ID.  Please support them.
