David Moffat
Intermediate Choir Conductor
David was born in Perth, Western Australia, and educated in Manchester, Glasgow, Melbourne and Sydney. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Melbourne, a Diploma of Education from the University of Sydney, and a Licentiate Diploma of the Trinity College of London.
David joined WVYC music staff as accompanist to the Intermediate Choir before taking over as the choir's conductor in 2009. David has conducted Bourke Presbytery Uniting Church Orchestra and the "Tree of Life" Choral & Dramatic Group, both in Melbourne. He has also acted as assistant musical director to Banners Gate Musical Society in Birmingham. As an accompanist, David has worked with theatrical societies in Melbourne, Manchester and Birmingham. Since 2003 he has accompanied ballet examinations conducted by the Royal Academy of Dance in ACT and NSW. David currently works as a piano teacher and freelance accompanist. He is also an ordained minister of the New Church, and has served as pastor to congregations in Birmingham (between 1997 and 2000) and Canberra.
